At SAPHAUS, our mission is to support young people on their journey towards independence by offering semi-independent living arrangements. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where individuals can enjoy autonomy, choice, and responsibility, while still having access to the guidance and support they need. Our service is tailored for young people who are transitioning from full-time care to independent living — including care leavers, unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, young people with disabilities, and those overcoming challenges such as addiction or mental health difficulties.

We take pride in providing the highest quality of support and guidance to the young people we work with. We recognize that leaving the care system and stepping into an unfamiliar world can feel overwhelming and isolating. Our goal is to make this transition as positive, supported, and purposeful as possible. At the heart of our approach is a strong belief that every young person deserves the right to live life on their own terms — with dignity, choice, and independence — regardless of their background or circumstances.

Our mission is to create an environment that nurtures personal growth, independence, and self-confidence, while ensuring young people have access to the resources and support they need to achieve their goals. This includes help with essential daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and managing finances, alongside access to counseling, healthcare, education, and vocational training.

We provide high-quality homes where young people feel safe, comfortable, and proud to live in — spaces that encourage them to thrive as they begin their journey towards independence.

Our approach is rooted in co-production and collaboration, working closely with each young person and community agencies to support them in becoming valued and active members of society.

Through this journey, young people are empowered to develop vital life skills, build resilience, and take responsibility for their futures, while still having the reassurance of a supportive community around them.

At its core, semi-independent living is about guiding young people from dependence to self-sufficiency, providing the right balance of freedom and safety-net support. With the right tools, resources, and encouragement, they can step confidently into adulthood and lead fulfilling lives.

We are deeply passionate about moving away from institutionalized care and instead promoting independence, choice, and belonging within a loving and nurturing home.

By working in partnership with young people, we identify their unique goals and aspirations, creating tailored, person-centered support plans. Our dedicated and highly experienced staff are always on hand to provide encouragement, guidance, and practical assistance — helping young people build the resilience and skills they need for the next stage of their lives.
